It’s never too late to set another goal

And here we are! December… the end of the year already. For some, it’s a time to enjoy the rewards of a healthy lifestyle. For others, it’s a time to indulge in not-so-healthy festivities. For all, it is a time to look back at the past 11 months and reflect on the goals we achieved or the dreams we failed to fulfill.

How was 2015 for you? Did you become fitter, faster, stronger, healthier? Or did you – like me – forget about your goals much too soon?

Motivational speakers claim that although most of us understand the importance of goal setting in life, in fact, about 80 percent of people never set any targets for themselves. Even more surprising, of the 20 percent that do set goals, roughly 70 percent fail to achieve them.

I failed because I was not persistent enough. My targets seemed too far in the future and my deadlines were too flexible. After each failure I kept telling myself that I would try again tomorrow… but ‘tomorrow’ I would just find another excuse. If you are like me, if my guilty admission resonates with you, I beg you to stop reading now and start doing something to bring your fitness desires a step closer. With nearly a month to go, you still have time to make a positive change to your life in 2015. And that will give you the advantage over all the newbies crowding the gym in January.

We have plenty of great workout ideas in the magazine this month, from throat crushers and bench presses to leg day lunges and a complete abs sculpting plan. Your success is in your hands (metaphorically and literally). So don’t wait for January to make a New Year resolution. Start now and walk into 2016 with  your head held high.
