You may be in a rush to get to work. You may just be watching your waistline. Whatever your reason, unless you’re facing a serious emergency it isn’t going to be good enough to justify skipping breakfast. Why not? Read on.

Skipping breakfast won’t help you lose weight

In fact, all the evidence points to the opposite conclusion – having a good healthy and filling breakfast is one of the best ways to help you lose weight. It makes logical sense – not only are you less likely to snack during the day, but your body has all those hours of activity in the day-time to burn off the calories taken on when you break your fast.

Breakfast keeps you healthy

Several studies have found that skipping breakfast can raise your risk of a range of diseases. There’s evidence that older men who skip this meal have a higher chance of heart disease, and that everyone who skips it, runs a higher risk of hypertension and elevated blood sugar levels.

Your brain works better on breakfast

Studies show that memory and mental performance are – perhaps unsurprisingly – higher amongst those who regularly make the time to eat breakfast.

Your day will go better if you eat your breakfast

A bold claim? This one doesn’t need scientific studies to back it up, although research has been done. It’s well known that if you don’t eat in the morning you’ll be more likely to end up with a shorter temper, making rasher and less rational decisions. Smooth your emotional passage through life with the nutritious start to the day you just know you should make time for.
